On November 9, 2004, the floriculture class (AGPS 3073)
visited Taylor’s Flowers and Gifts in Russellville.
Tammy Buford, owner of Taylor’s Flowers and Gifts
talked to the class about the history of the store.
Students were than taught how to make a corsage.
The first step was to make a bow out of silk ribbon.
A small thin wire was than used to help hold the bow together.
Then one to two small flowers were chosen for the corsage.
A thin wire was pushed through the base
of the flower to serve as a small stem.
Green floral tape was than tightly
wrapped around each wire.
A small amount of baby’s breath
was placed around the flowers.
Next, a small amount of greenery
is placed on one side of the corsage.
Now the bow, stems of the flowers, baby’s breath
and greenery are all wrapped together using floral tape.
The last step is trim all the stems evenly and cover
the exposed wire and stems with a small piece of floral tape.
Tammy examines the craftsmanship
of each student’s corsage.
